BACKGROUND
Modern lifestyles, characterized by prolonged forward-leaning postures and the ubiquitous use of masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, have led to increasingly disrupted breathing patterns. The resulting physical issues are escalating year by year. In response, JT, Hakuhodo, and Yukai Engineering Inc. have initiated a project with the aspiration of enabling effortless and deep breathing for all individuals in contemporary society. Drawing upon research conducted by the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, Human Environment and Informatics Laboratory on breath and relaxation, the team has designed a product aimed at enhancing well-being during moments of respite.
TECHNOLOGY
Deep Breathing Technology, inspired by "the phenomenon of rhythmical synchronization." This technology simulates the natural expansion and contraction of a living creature's breath.

When holding the inflating and deflating device, users can naturally synchronize both the rhythm and depth of their breathing, fostering mental calmness and enhancing task performance*. In 2017, researchers from the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, Human Environment and Informatics Laboratory(Warisawa, Fukui, Kometani, and Ban Labs), embarked on a study of the phenomenon of rhythmical synchronization. Their findings, presented at an international conference in 2018, earned them the prestigious Emerging Technologies Award.

DESIGN
The design takes inspiration from breath, with its organic shape and calming white color resembling clean air. Its versatile form allows for different holding positions to match your mood. The weight and gentle touch of the product aim to create a sensation akin to cradling a living creature.

Is there a way to clean the cushion cover?
The cushion cover is removable and you can hand wash it gently. Soak it in lukewarm water with a small amount of laundry detergent, and gently press it in water to clean and dry it in a flat condition to avoid stretching the material.
Do you sell replacement covers?
We do not currently offer individual covers for sale but may consider selling replacement covers in the future.
